“I would have kept you forever, little miko.” His words were soft, almost soundless. Or the way the Kunitsukami gather around Emi to give her their strength for the ritual. So many moments made me cry near the end! The way Nanako softly tells Emi that they all gathered for a celebratory meal with her before the night of the solstice because there will be no time for good-byes the day after. The characters were going through tough times and dealing with raw emotions, but the author wrote it in a way that showed the characters' strengths and selflessness.

The last 100 pages were a cry fest for me because everything was so sweet and beautiful while being tragic at the same time. I got so attached to the characters, I laughed with them and shamelessly wept for them. “I world forget everything else,” he murmured, “as long as I didn’t forget who I am with you. Each book in this series is a slow-building of emotions and it all led up to this truly incredible book. This book is the magnificent ending to a great trilogy, I am speechless. Immortal Fire is a real roller-coaster of emotions, but it is definitely worth every laugh and every tear.
